West Ham are considering a January swoop for one of the Championship’s brightest players in the New Year, as they seek to move away from the Premier League’s relegation zone.

The MirrorĀ states the Hammers are keeping tabs on Reading defender Liam Moore, who has excelled for the promotion hopefuls and was recently scouted during their 2-2 draw with fellow promotion chasers Cardiff City.

24-year-old Moore has been a mainstay in the Reading defence this season but David Moyes is eyeing a move in January as he looks to fix his own defensive frailties, with the Hammers’ back-line being breached far too regularly this season.

Moore is amongst a number of January signings being targeted by the relegation threatened Hammers, with Moyes also reportedly eyeing a new striker and a midfield powerhouse to improve the presence in the middle of the field.

Reading are likely to fight tooth and nail to keep their experienced defender but the lure of regular football in the Premier League may well be too difficult for him to turn down.
