West Ham are desperately trying to bolster their attacking lines ahead of the January transfer window and face a battle on their hands to secure the services of one reported target.

The GuardianĀ states West Ham are fighting Newcastle United for the signature of Liverpool forward Danny Ings in January, with both Premier League strugglers eyeing a loan deal for the out-of-favour Reds striker.

Ings has been limited to just 17 minutes of first-team action this season as the former Burnley man finds himself behind Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and summer signing Dominic Solanke in the pecking order at Anfield.

Despite this, and not starting a Premier League game since Brendan Rodgers’ last game in charge, Ings has impressed with the U23 side and that has led to interest in his services heading into the New Year, where Ings will look to get his career back on track.

Moyes was keen on Ings’ services during his short stint in charge of Real Sociedad and a move could work out well for all parties.
