West Ham are keen to bolster their squad in the January transfer window and it’s now reported that they’ve entered the chase for his signature in the New Year.

The Daily MirrorĀ states West Ham are involved in a three-way Premier League battle for the services of Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who has impressed on-loan with Aston Villa this season and who has seen his stock rise as a result.

Johnstone is on his second spell with Aston Villa but has the option to cut his spell short in January to secure a permanent switch- and there is a number of suitors for the 24-year-old’s signature.

West Brom and Crystal Palace, two sides also fighting against the threat of relegation, are also said to be keen on Johnstone’s signature and the club most likely to sign him are the side who can offer regular first-team action.

West Ham may not be able to offer that as they have on-loan Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and experienced Spaniard stopper Adrian.
