West Ham are looking to bolster their forward lines in the January transfer window but they’ve been handed disappointing news in the chase for one target, who looks set to remain at his current side.

Bologna’s Italian forward Simone Verdi has been linked with West Ham recently, as well as Inter Milan, but the 25-year-old has stated he has no intention of leaving his current employers when the January window opens in a few weeks time.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, he said:

“I want to end the season here. I am definitely not leaving Bologna in January, as I want to end the season here. That doesn’t necessarily mean I’m staying for several more years, but I am happy here.”

Verdi’s comments suggest he would be open to a move in the summer but that may come too late for the Hammers, particularly as interest in the striker’s services could rise as the season progresses.

The versatile attacker has impressed in Serie A this season, scoring five goals and securing four assists in 17 appearances.
