West Ham United boss David Moyes has confirmed a crucial piece of news ahead of the January transfer window, revealing that the Hammers are unable to cut-short Joe Hart’s loan spell in East London.

The England international moved to the London Stadium in the summer and stood as first-choice stopper for the opening months of the campaign, though his performances were criticised and many called for him to be dropped.

Hart was unable to feature against his parent side Manchester City a week ago, with Adrian stepping in, and the Spaniard impressed, retaining his spot for Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea; a match that saw Moyes secure his first win as West Ham boss.

Hart now faces a battle to get back into the side, especially with the World Cup right around the corner, but he’ll have to fight for his spot- with Moyes telling The Daily Mail that he cannot be sent back to the Citizens in the New Year.

‘If I am correct I don’t think his contract allows him to go back.  Joe for all his career has been No 1 wherever he has been and there is someone else who has worked along side him. At this moment in time, Adrian is in goal, he played well against Man City and he did so again on Saturday against Chelsea.’

‘I am sure Joe will give Adrian all the respect [he deserves]. He is a really good guy Joe, good in the dressing room and he is good with his level of experience — the games and competitions he has played in.’
