West Ham United are eyeing for a move for Reading defender Liam Moore, but will face competition from Scottish champions Celtic, reports Burton Mail.

David Moyes is looking to bring new, and young, defenders to the London Stadium after the New Year amidst numerous injury problems to his current ageing back-line.

Jose Fonte (33), James Collins (34) and Angelo Ogbonna (29) have all missed substantial parts of the campaign through injury, leading to Moyes eyeing replacements for the trio in January – notably Reading’s Liam Moore who has had an impressive start to the new campaign for Jaap Stam’s side.

Moore has made 23 appearances already for Reading this season, scoring 3 goals, and was instrumental last season as Stam’s side made it to the play-off finals.

Stam however is keen to hold onto the former Leicester City star, saying: “Let me put it like this: if you want to build a club and go somewhere you’re not going to sell one of your best players.”
