West Ham will go toe-to-toe with relegation rivals Newcastle United this weekend in the final game before Christmas, where the Hammers will look to continue their fine run of form.

David Moyes has led to resurgence in East London, lifting the side out of the relegation zone whilst a Newcastle slump, which has seen the Magpies lose four consecutive Premier League matches, has seen them slip into the drop-zone.

This weekend’s clash is vital for both sides but the form book certainly favours West Ham, with former Magpies striker Michael Owen amongst those suggesting that the Hammers will win the relegation battle this weekend.

Writing in his weekly predictions for BetVictorOwen said:

“West Ham have kept clean sheets in their last three PL games and I think they can make it a miserable Christmas for the Toon Army, given the Magpies go in to the game having lost their last four,”

However, Owen did identify that the absence of Manuel Lanzini, who was punished by a tribunal for diving in last week’s victory over Stoke, could make it difficult for the Hammers but he expects them to edge the tie.
