Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho is likely to leave the Portuguese club at the end of the season, according to O Jogo.
The newspaper reports that the midfielder enforcer will not sign a new contract if it means his release clause is increased. The 25 year old’s €45million buyout clause reportedly priced him out of a move to West Ham in the summer and the Portuguese international is said to be unwilling for this to be increased to €60million; a figure which Sporting want included in his new deal.
Carvalho is reportedly happy with the salary increase proposed by Sporting. The midfielder is currently on €1.2million a season after tax, and he would see his wage rise to €1.8million a year. The contract on the table would also see him stay until 2022; an extension of two years to his current deal.
The midfielder continues to be a key player for Sporting and for Portugal, and he has also been linked with moves to Juventus and Arsenal in recent weeks.
