West Ham have certainly struggled to find their feet this season and fans will be forgiven for wondering how things might have been if their summer transfer window was more successful.

Whilst the acquisitions of Javier Hernandez, Marko Arnautovic, Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta look good on paper, the Hammers’ new recruits have struggled to make a lasting impression in East London and have suffered bouts of poor form.

It may not have been that way though as Sports Witness summarises reports from French outfit L’Equipe, who state that West Ham were amongst a number of sides who made ‘concrete approaches’ for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele in the summer.

Brendan Rodgers had to fight tooth and nail to keep the former Fulham striker at Celtic Park for this season after his phenomenal displays last year, though the French youngster hasn’t quite replicated his form from last term as he has six goals to his name.

Interest in Dembele is still present though and a number of sides are expected to return for his services in January, though it remains to be seen whether West Ham will put themselves back in the hunt.
