West Ham face a stern test in the months ahead under the guidance of David Moyes, as the Hammers look to push out of the relegation zone.

Conceding 23 goals in just 11 matches, the Scottish manager has inherited the Premier League’s worst defence from the recently axed Slaven Bilic and has his sights set on improvements when the January transfer window opens.

The Daily MirrorĀ states the Hammers have identified Brighton defender Lewis Dunk as the ideal recruit in the New Year, though West Ham will likely have to offer a big sum to persuade the top-flight debutants into a sale.

Brighton-born 25-year-old Dunk has excelled in the Premier League this season, recently signing a fresh five-year deal, and his form has led to some calling for him to earn a rise into Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

With 180 league appearances for his hometown club, from League One through to the Premier League, Dunk is well established with the Seagulls and has helped the side this season currently exceed expectations, as they sit eighth heading out of the November international break.
