West Ham under 23 striker Toni Martinez is not being selected for first team games as club staff are not convinced that the Spaniard is physically ready for the Premier League, according to Daily Mail journalist Kieran Gill.

The 20 year old scored a brace against Bristol Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night, leading to more calls from supporters for the forward to be included in the first team squad.

Martinez was signed from Valencia in 2016 but has yet to play a first team match for the Hammers. The striker was however loaned out last season to play for Oxford United where he scored three goals in 17 appearances.

The Spanish under 19 international has been ripping up Premier League 2 this season with eight goals in nine games for the under 23 side, and his goals against Bristol Rovers has increased pressure on manager Slaven Bilic to select him for first team duties. It seems however,  that for the time being at least, he will be remaining with Terry Westley’s side.
