West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has admitted he made a mistake by not sacking former manager Slaven Bilic during the summer.

The Croatian was let go from his role at the London Stadium following just over two seasons in charge earlier in the week, and was replaced by former Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes within a matter of hours.

Bilic was fired following a poor start to the season for the Hammers which sees them sit in the Premier League’s relegation zone, however Sullivan admits he should have done his dirty work earlier, especially considering West Ham spent much of the previous campaign in a similar position.

“We had to make a change. His eyes had gone — and the fight had gone,” he told The Sun.

“When I told him, it was almost a relief. It had run its course. He wants to be liked, but we need to win football matches.

“I probably should have made the change in the summer, but we decided to wait. Slaven is worn out.”

David Moyes will take charge of his first game at the club after the international break, when West Ham travel to Watford on November 19th.
