Slaven Bilic’s position as West Ham United manager is under serious threat as we approach the international break, with the Hammers facing a crunch test against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Croatian boss was reportedly given two games to save his job after a recent defeat to Brighton and raised optimism with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup, having trailed 2-0 at the interval.

However, the Hammers threw away a two-goal lead of their own last weekend against Crystal Palace and subsequently sit just one point above the relegation zone heading into the weekend- and could find themselves in the bottom three after Saturday’s clash.

However, though he predicts a victory for LiverpoolBBC pundit Mark Lawrenson doesn’t feel that Bilic should lose his job and says potentially sacking the former Besiktas boss would be ‘ridiculous’.

“West Ham have got some decent players but they are struggling for defenders this weekend. They need to get some defenders fit. You look at Slaven Bilic’s squad and think they should be in that middle group in the Premier League and should be comfortable.”

“Liverpool won comfortably at London Stadium at the end of last season and I think they will win again. But I hope it doesn’t mean Bilic will lose his job – because that would be ridiculous.”

Fans will certainly disagree with the statement of the former Liverpool man, as Bilic has certainly rode his luck during the past 18 months.
