Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier says new West Ham boss David Moyes must solve the problem with Marko Arnautovic if he is to be a success in East London.
Arnautovic, the club’s record signing who joined from Stoke City during the summer for a fee in the region of £24 million, has failed to live up to the hype and is yet to register a goal in Claret and Blue.
The Austria international’s attitude on the pitch has also been slammed by fans and critics, who have dubbed the midfielder ‘lazy’ after his sub-standard performances so far this season.
Le Tissier believes fixing Arnautovic’s form is one of Moyes’ biggest tasks after his appointment earlier today.
I think for me the main problem at the moment at West Ham is they spent a lot of money for a marquee signing in the summer, in Marko Arnautovic. He’s not turned up,” Le Tissier said.
“£20million was it? £24million and he’s contributed very little to this season so far.
If you get Marko Arnautovic’s head right and get him playing consistently, he can be a big difference in that football team to the amount of points West Ham can accumulate this season.
“He is a talent, but at the moment he’s not doing it.”
