Former Everton hero and favourite of David Moyes has been linked with a shock return to the Premier League to re-unite with his former boss.

Cahill, who turns 38 next month, is reportedly considering his future at current club Melbourne City, and may be open for a return to England with West Ham, reports HITC.

Moyes has already been linked with moves for a number of his former stars including Victor Anichebe, Lamine Kone and more, however Cahill’s inclusion in that growing list may come as a surprise, not merely because of his age.

Cahill left the Premier League in 2012, and has since played his football in the MLS, the Chinese Super League and most recently Australia’s A League.

If form is to be believed however, should West Ham make a shock move for Cahill, they would not be purchasing a player who has gone past his prime.

Cahill was the key man as Australia qualified for the World Cup next year, scoring an astonishing 11 goals en route to Russia, including both goals in the Socceroo’s play-off victory against Syria.
