A number of Europe’s top managers are said to have snubbed a move to the London Stadium before David Moyes was announced as the new manager, reports The Sun.

Moyes was announced as the successor to the yesterday-fired Slaven Bilic earlier today, however it has now been revealed the former Everton and Sunderland boss was not the club’s first choice to take charge in East London.

The powers that be at West Ham are thought to have made personal calls to all of Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Mancini and Rafael Benitez before the appointment of Moyes, only to be turned down by the trio.

All three were linked with a job at the London Stadium earlier in the year should Slaven Bilic lose his position as manager, however after the Croatian’s dismissal, all snubbed a move to the London Stadium, leaving the Hammers to appoint David Moyes – their fourth choice for the job.

Moyes has been out of work since leaving Sunderland at the end of last season with whom he was relegated to the Championship.

In his previous job at Real Sociedad, he was fired after exactly a year in charge.
