West Ham United are looking to strengthen their ranks in January after a woeful start to the season has seen the Hammers sit in the bottom three in the Premier League, having won just two of eleven matches in the league.

David Moyes will be tasked with salvaging the under performing West Ham side and leading the club towards stability but he won’t find it easy, with a vast majority of the squad struggling to find their feet this season.

Signings in January are therefore inevitable but West Ham may have found themselves in a better situation had they secured the services of one midfielder, who is now being heavily linked with a mid-season switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

Besiktas ace Tolgay Arslan came very close to joining West Ham two years ago, when he was still at Hamburg, but injury prevented him from completing the switch. Now, Turkish outlet Fotomac reports he’s on the verge of a move to Tottenham.

Bild had reported that the Hammers had previously negotiated a fee for the 28-year-old but injury disaster scuppered the move, with West Ham instead signing Alex Song, who struggled to make a positive impact, whilst Arslan later joined Besiktas.

Since moving to Turkey, Arslan has impressed and has been featuring in the Champions League for his club this season. It’s certainly clear he could have provided an impact at the London Stadium, which is a big disappointment.
