West Ham United star Reece Oxford has made his long awaited Bundesliga debut after he appeared in Borussia Monchengladbach’s impressive 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim.

Oxford was used as a second half substitute for the German side, earning his first competitive minutes for Lars Stindl’s team as they jumped to sixth place in the Bundesliga.

The teenager, who joined ‘Gladbach on loan during the summer, featured heavily during the club’s pre-season, even finding the net on one occasion, however has since struggled for first team action despite making the bench for all of his new side’s top flight fixtures so far this campaign.

His lack of action had sparked rumours of a return to the London Stadium, with the Hammers too in a crisis of their own after a poor start to the season, however he was urged to stay in Germany by both parties.

After his first taste of Bundesliga action, Oxford will be looking for his first full start for ‘Gladbach as they face Mainz at the weekend.
