West Ham are set to battle out with Everton and Newcastle for the signature of out-of-favour Leicester City striker Islam Slimani this January, reports Le Buteur.

The Algerian international signed for the Foxes in a club record deal worth £29 million in the summer of 2016, however after a lacklustre first campaign, now finds himself surplus to requirements and behind the likes of Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki in the striking pecking order at the King Power Stadium.

With playing time limited this season, Leicester could be willing to cash in on their asset to try and recoup some of the money spent on him, with a host of clubs including Everton, West Ham and Newcastle looking to lure him away from the East Midlands.

West are looking to bolster their attacking line after a poor start to the new season, with duo Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho heavily rumoured to be on their way out of the London Stadium after the New Year.

Slimani is expected to cost any potential suitor in the region of €20 million.
