West Ham remain interested in signing Portugal midfielder William Carvalho despite interest from a number of other clubs across Europe including AS Monaco, reports Mercato 365 (via Sports Witness).

The Hammers had been widely expected to complete the signing of the Sporting Lisbon star during the summer, however no deal materialised, leading to a breakdown of relations between the Portguese and East London clubs.

After Sporting President Bruno de Carvalho all but ruled out any future deals with West Ham, it was thought that the Hammers would not reinstate their interest in the £25 million rated midfielder.

However, after a poor start to the season in the Premier League, they could again turn to Carvalho as an answer to their midfield woes.

David Moyes is looking to bolster his midfield options after the New Year as he looks to get West Ham out of the league’s relegation places following his appointment as the successor to Slaven Bilic earlier this month.
