West Ham United forward Andre Ayew has given a brutal but honest assessment of his side’s performance at Goodison Park last night.

The Hammers found themselves on the end of a 4-0 drubbing from Everton, making it an unhappy return to his former home for manager David Moyes.

A Wayne Rooney hat-trick – including a spectacular effort from inside his own half – and an Ashley Williams header made for a miserable night on Merseyside for the West Ham fans and players.

Following the defeat, Ayew says the Hammers, himself included, must improve if they are to stay up this season.

“There are no words. We came here with lots of determination to do something. We leave here with zero points and four goals conceded. It’s not normal.” said the Ghanian after the defeat.

“We need to get back to work and try and get some points. We need to stay strong, be men, take responsibility and move forward.

“It’s not going to be easy, it will be difficult as we have tough games coming up. But we need to tune our mind and fight and try and get the maximum points that we can from those games.”
