After a sequence of events over the course of the weekend that saw West Ham slip into the relegation zone, the club announced today a decision to relieve Slaven Bilic of his position.

The Hammers have won just two of their eleven Premier League fixtures this season and a 4-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday proved to be the final nail in the coffin, with Everton’s dramatic win over Watford yesterday compiling the misery upon the East London outfit.

Bilic’s position has remained under threat ever since the midway point of last season but he earned himself some breathing room as the Hammers turned things around towards the end of the campaign. Now sat in the bottom three with nine points, it’s a crucial period ahead.

A decision will now be made about the best move to bring the club forward and West Ham have the international break to collect themselves ahead of a crucial run of games in November, where the Hammers face high-flying Watford before clashing with fellow strugglers Leicester City and Everton.

Fans on social media have had their say on the sacking, with the majority pointing their fingers at the board.
