West Ham defender James Collins has suffered yet another injury set back only days after making his long awaited comeback on Tuesday night.

The Welshman, who suffered an ankle injury against West Brom in September, made his return to action last night after named in the starting XI for the Hammers’ U23s Checkatrade Trophy clash with Wycombe Wanderers.

Only 24 minutes into the encounter however, Collins was withdrawn having suffered a reported hamstring injury.

The injury is not expected to be major and it is thought Collins may have been withdrawn as precaution, however will delay the veteran defenders return to first team action.

Manager David Moyes remains without a number of his key men at the back, with Jose Fonte and Michail Antonio both remaining sidelined.

Fonte is expected to return after the New Year, while Antonio was been named in the squad for tonight’s clash at the Everton. He is not expected to start.
