West Ham are keen to prize Hartepool youngster Connor Simpson to the London Stadium this January, reports The Sun.

Dubbed the new ‘Andy Carroll’, Simpson towers high at 6ft 5 and like the West Ham striker is too left footed, prompting obvious comparisons between himself and the Hammers star.

Simpson, still only 17, scored on his competitive debut in League 2 for the Pools in a 3-1 victory over Maidstone.

West Ham, Swansea and West Brom are all thought to be keen on the youngster, and could steal him away from the League 2 outfit for as little as £60,000 as he is yet to sign a professional contract at the club.

Born in Guisborough, North Yorkshire, Simpson came through the Hartepool academy from a young age.

Since breaking through into the side at Victoria Park, Simpson has been out sidelined with injury and has only just worked his way back into training with Craig Harrison’s first team.
