West Ham are monitoring Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri’s contract situation at the Serie A club, according to Rai Sports journalist Ciro Venerato.

The Italian coach has helped Napoli to an unbeaten start to the league season, topping the table after the last round of fixtures, but negotiations over a new contract at the San Paolo have reportedly stalled.

Sarri has been linked with the Chelsea job in recent days, but speaking on the Goal show on Italian TV station Tele Vomero, Venerato is quoted as saying that the Hammers are keeping a close eye on the coach’s contract talks:

“In England, I’m sure: Chelsea, West Ham and other clubs are on the trail of Maurizio Sarri, and they are willing to cover a top coach lik him with gold. At this moment, the extension of the contact with the club is stalling, but I’m sure [Napoli president Aurelio] De Laurentiis will not be found unprepared.”

Current West Ham boss Slaven Bilic reportedly has just two games to save his job following a dismal 3-0 loss to Brighton on Friday night. The Croatian will likely need a good result tonight against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, as well as all three points against Crystal Palace on Saturday to keep his position in the dugout.
