West Ham have certainly found things difficult since moving to the London Stadium last season and things haven’t really improved this term, with Slaven Bilic’s side struggling to find consistency and sitting just two-points above the drop-zone.
The Hammers were a lot more controlled in the summer window this time around, having went way over the top a year ago to bring a plethora of names into the club- the majority of which were failures and haven’t been seen since.
One of those, loanee Simone Zaza, saw his spell cut-short in January after failing to find the net in any of his 11 appearances, with the 26-year-old then moving to Valencia- where he’s started to find his feet and has excelled.
This week, Zaza was named as La Liga’s Player of the Month after scoring four goals, including a hat-trick in a 5-0 drubbing of Malaga, and beat Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to the award- despite the Argentine having scored on seven occasions.
Naturally, West Ham fans on social media were left cursing their luck and wondering what might have been if they’d got the best out of the striker.
