Winston Reid has revealed his unorthodox plan to mute in-form striker Chris Wood ahead of the Hammers clash with Burnley next weekend – he will take him out on the pair’s flight back home.

The duo are currently on international duty with New Zealand as they prepare to take on Japan in a friendly in a few days time before flying home to resume club duties in the Premier League next week.

Wood joined Burnley for a club record £15 million late this summer, and has since enjoyed a terrific start to his top flight career netting 3 times since his move to Turf Moor, however his international compatriot Reid believes he has the answer to stopping him.

”I’ve been joking that I’m going to kick him on the flight back home,” Reid joked with The Dominion Post (via Team Talk), before adding:  “I’m very pleased [for Wood]. He’s worked really hard the last couple of years, his performances have been getting better and better and he deserves this.”

West Ham currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, while Burnley are nine places above them in 6th after having played seven games each.
