Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has closed the door on any potential move to West Ham after deciding to focus his energies with his current club, reports Football London.

Carvalho’s long rumoured move to the London Stadium broke down on deadline day in August, with the two clubs allegedly unable to reach an agreement over a suitable fee for the midfielder.

With relations between the two parties having since broken down entirely due to a high profile spat between the club’s owners, Carvalho has now reportedly given up on his Premier League dream and will now instead focus on his football in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon.

Now captain of the Liga NOS side after Adrien Silva’s move to Leicester City, Carvalho intends to prove his worth to Portugal manager Fernando Santos’ to secure himself a spot in Portugal’s squad for the World Cup in Russia next summer.

Carvalho was part of the side that won Euro 2016, playing in all but one of his country’s matches as they lifted the trophy for the first time in their history.
