Juventus have emerged as front runners for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho after being impressed with the Portuguese international’s performances in the Champions League, reports Sapo Desporto.
The Serie A champions face Sporting for the second time in two weeks after beating the Portuguese side 2-1 in Turin in their last group fixture, and Carvalho seems to have impressed the Italian club with his display despite his team’s defeat last time out.
The 25 year old will likely start tonight’s match against Juve, coming off the back of captaining Sporting in the 1-0 win over Rio Ave on Friday night. So far this campaign, the midfielder has played 10 games in all competitions, and contributed two assists.
West Ham were heavily linked with Carvalho in the summer but a transfer collapsed after they failed to agree a fee. Sapo Desporto are reporting that Sporting will demand that any club must match the player’s €45m (£39.5m) release clause if they want to sign the Portuguese star.
