West Ham are to set to face a battle from Serie A side Fiorentina to sign Brazilian youngster Matheus Jesus.

The defensive-midfielder is currently on loan with Brazilian side Santos, however has a contract with Portuguese side Estoril that runs until December 2018.

Both sides however believe that the Liga NOS side will sell up if the price is right for the 20-year-old.

The Hammers have eyed Jesus as a replacement for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho whom they failed to signed during this summer’s transfer window.

Italian football website Calcio Mercato have reported that Fiorentina, Schalke, and from fellow Premier League club, Watford are all too interested in the midfielder.

Reports suggest Fiorentina have already tabled a €3.5 million bid for Jesus, however that is not believed to be enough to see Estoril part ways with the talented young midfielder.

Jesus has represented Brazil at U-20 on one occasion, that being in a Friendly against England last year.
