West Ham are set to battle it out with Bundesliga side Hannover 96 for the services of young Ghana star Rashid Alhassan, reports The Sun.

The 17-year-old full-back, who starred for Ghana U-17’s in their 1-0 over Colombia at the FIFA U-17 World Cup on Friday, is seen as one of the tournament’s brightest young talents.

Already a regualr for Ghanaian Premier League club Aduana Stars, Alhassan has attracted attention from a number of suitors including West Ham and Hannover. MLS side Chicago Fire are also thought to be interested.

Alhassan’s advisor Samuel Asante, responding to rumours of his future after the tournament’s conclusion, said: “Several clubs are interested in Rashid at the moment but I can speak about West Ham and Chicago Fire.

“Hannover are also interested in his services.  We’ll look at the best option before deciding on his future.

“He is currently with Ghana’s U-17 squad for the World Cup in India, and so the situation will be clearer after the tournament.

“There is no rush to make any pronouncements, but that is the situation with him at the moment.”
