West Ham and Tottenham are both tracking Walsall’s Mitch Candlin after he signed his first professional contract with the League One club, reports The Sun.

The 17-year old – who made his debut for the League One club only last April, in turn becoming the third youngest player ever to turn out in the league – has already turned heads of some of the Premier Leagues big boys after an impressive start to his career.

Candlin is already a regular in the Saddlers first-team and manager Jon Whitney believes the youngster has a big future ahead of him.

“He’s got great potential and he reflects our core values, so we have rewarded him.” said Whitney after offering the teenager his first pro contract.

Candlin has also recently been called up to train with the England U18s for their upcoming games against South Africa and Brazil.

Both West Ham and Tottenham scouts have reportedly already been to watch the young striker, with both sides monitoring the players situation ahead of the January transfer window.
