Former West Ham duo Simeone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri are both enjoying life in La Liga, with the pair, of Valencia and Las Palmas respectively, having netted 7 goals between them so far this season.

Not only is that impressive total seven times the amount they managed whilst both on loan at the London Stadium last season (yes, they really did only score once between them all year), but it is frustratingly more than West Ham have managed in the Premier League.

The Hammers have had a poor start to the new season and currently sit 18th, having found the net only 6 times in 6 games thus far this campaign.

To add insult to injury, the much lamented Zaza – who drew a London Stadium blank last season – is La Liga’s second top scorer, behind only Lionel Messi with 5 goals. The Italian scored an astonishing eight minute hat-trick last week in Valencia’s 5-0 thrashing of Malaga.

The pair’s good form has left West Ham fans wondering 1) why on earth neither could reproduce those kind of stats whilst in London and 2) why their current crop of players are seemingly incapable of finding the net.
