West Ham United super-fan and EastEnders star Danny Dyer seemed to come over a little starstruck when he was given the chance in interview Andy Carroll following the Hammers victory over Huddersfield Town on Monday night.

Slaven Bilic’s side emerged 2-0 victors over the Terriers in their first home game of the season thanks to goals from Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew, however Carroll – who was returning from injury – had a huge impact on the game and was unlucky to not get himself on the scoresheet.

Dyer, who was at the game, spoke to Carroll afterwards.

“Danny Dyer here with Andy Carroll and what a beautiful man he is close up. What a beautiful beautiful beast of a man.” Dyer opened, before asking Carroll how it he found his return to action.

The striker responded: “Very nice, great to be back on the pitch, it’s been tough watching the lads in the last three games. But it feels good to get back out there and get the win.”

The pair talked further about the game, as well as Carroll’s 5 month spell on the sidelines with Dyer insisting his side had ‘missed him’, before touching upon where the club will go from here.

“So what do you reckon, erm, top four finish?” Dyer jested.

“Yeah I think so probably. Ropey start but we’ll kick on from now.” answered Carroll, him too with a glisten in his eye.

Dyer concluded: “Twenty games on the spin, a nice win.”
