West Ham fans have used the recent rumours linking Portugal midfielder Danilo Pereira with a move to the London Stadium as an opportunity to poke fun at the club’s transfer policy.
Reports via Football London suggest that Hammers scout were present to watch midfielder in Porto’s 2-1 victory over Rio Ave on Sunday.
West Ham are thought to be reinstating their interest in the 26-year-old after missing out on Sporting Lisbon star and Pereira’s international compatriot William Carvalho.
Carvalho was heavily rumoured to be joining the Hammers during the summer, however after disagreements with Lisbon over an asking price for the player and a subsequent spat in which the Portuguese club claimed West Ham had made no approach for the midfielder, relations between the two clubs have broken down such that a switch to the London Stadium for Carvalho has become all but impossible.
After missing out on their top target, West Ham will now turn their full attention to Pereira.
Fans are to say the least not amused by the latest twist in the club’s embarrassing transfer saga, and have taken to Twitter to poke fun …
