West Ham manager Slaven Bilic insists he has not thrown in the towel following the club’s disappointing start to the season.

The Croat has remained defiant on bringing West Ham out of their poor form which has seen the lose all three of their opening league games.

West Ham failed to sign William Carvalho this summer and are surrounded by controversy off the pitch after co-owner David Sullivan was labelled a “liar” and a “parasite” by Sporting Lisbon director Nuno Saraiva.

Bilic has spoken out over the attempt to sign the Portgual international.

“There has been much said and written since,” he writes. “There is much I could say but I don’t want to, not because I am afraid to have my say but that is not my style.

“I haven’t said anything before and I don’t want to start now.

“I can talk about the facts and, yes, I have talked to my friends and my staff about what has gone on and, of course, I don’t agree with many things.

“Am I going to talk about it in public, though? No, that’s not how I work — and what is the benefit to anyone to moan about things?”

Bilic also says the he and his players remain up for the challenge to push back up the league.

“I am not throwing in the towel and neither are the players. We will work hard to put this right,” said the 48 year-old (via Evening Standard).

Hammers fans may be disappointed with Bilic’s tactics, but have sympathy and respect for their manager directing the bulk of blame at the board.
