West Ham United fans have called for star player Michail Antonio to be included in Gareth Southgate’s next England squad following his Man of the Match performance against Huddersfield Town last night.
The Hammers earned their first points of the season with victory of David Wagner’s side at the London Stadium to lift them off the foot of the table.
Pedro Obiang’s deflected shot opened the scoring just past 70 minutes for the home side, and their lead was doubled only 5 minutes later when substitute Andre Ayew was quickest to pounce from a corner.
However, it was Antonio’s performance that most caught the eye. Having only recently returned to full fitness, the Englishman was the stand out player for Slaven Bilic’s side, with his high energy and powerful running causing the Huddersfield defence problems all afternoon.
Antonio also produced a Dimitar Berbatov-esque piece of skill just before half time that had the crowd at the London Stadium on their feet, and Terriers left-back Chris Löwe with his head in his hands.
Such was Antonio’s impressive display, Hammers fans have called for the winger to be included in Gareth Southgate’s next Three Lions squad …
Michail Antonio is England's best winger. There's not even a debate.
