England boss Gareth Southgate insists under-fire Joe Hart remains England’s best goalkeeper.

Hart has endured a difficult start to life at West Ham following his loan move from Manchester City. England’s number one has picked the ball out of the back of the net 10 times so far as the Hammers prop up the Premier League table.

The 30 year-old was criticised on Monday for his part in Slovakia’s opening goal. However, Southgate believes Hart is still in pole position for England’s goalkeeping jersey.

Southgate’s unconditional love for Hart could be just what the shot-stopper needs to reproduce the kind of form that him lift the Premier League twice with Manchester City.

Slaven Bilic certainly needs England’s number one in the form of his life if he hopes to keep his job at the London Stadium.
