Michail Antonio says he is delighted to have been awarded the Man of the Match award in West Ham’s 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town last night.

The Hammer secured their first points of the Premier League season with victory over the Terriers at the London Stadium thanks to goals from Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew, however it was Antonio who was the stand-out player.

The Englishman was electric down the right flank all night, causing plenty of problems for a solid Huddersfield defence who up until this point had yet to concede a goal in the league, and not only was Antonio pleased for the Hammers to get off the mark, but also with his own performance after only having recently returned from injury.

“It’s terrific” said Antonio when asked about the three points: “We’ve been playing well, but making a couple of mistakes where we have been losing, but today we showed can play as a team with no mistakes

Commenting on his own display, he said: “Very pleased, it is always good to come out and get Man of the Match to show for the work you’ve done on the pitch.” before concluding: “Happy Birthday gaffer!”
