Andy Carroll has hailed the Hammers team spirit ahead of this weekend’s trip to West Brom, and believes it was that that was key in securing their first win of the season on Monday night.

Slaven Bilic’s side earned their first points of the Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town earlier in the week in a hard fought victory.

Carroll – who himself put in an exceptional performance upon his return from injury – has praised his team-mates and the togetherness of the squad.

“It’s nice to be back and put on the kit,” Carroll said on whufc.com. “I felt good being back around the lads all week preparing for the game.

“Even though we had the international break we’ve been knocking our heads together all week, wanting to do well. The lads are strong together, everyone’s been talking, basically telling each other to pull their finger out and that’s exactly what we did on Monday.”

Bilic’s men now travel to the Hawthorns this weekend as they look to keep the momentum of Monday’s victory going, and Carroll believes he and his team-mates will stick together through thick and thin in what could prove to be another difficult season at the London Stadium.

“Everyone in the team gave their all and got the win. Everyone’s together in that dressing room and everyone will be together until the end.”
