Former West Ham boss Sam Allardyce believes Ravel Morrison is the “biggest waste of talent” he’s ever worked with.

The 24-year-old is back in the headlines after completing a deadline day loan move to Mexican side Atlas following disappointing spells at Lazio and QPR.

Morrison appeared just five times for QPR last season and four for his parent club Lazio.

Big Sam briefly coached the Englishman at West Ham and has slammed Morrison for wasting his football career.

“He was that good but because of the mental side of his game and his life he couldn’t produce that talent on a regular basis,” he told Sky Sports.

“He was the biggest waste of talent I ever worked with.

“We had three months where Ravel was the match-winner at West Ham every week.

“Everybody raved about him and there was talk of a new contract and then all of a sudden it went the other way.”

The attacking midfielder began his career at Manchester United, but was shipped out by Sir Alex Ferguson who foresaw what was to come.

Morrison’s career has been blighted by a number of off the field issues, but the Mancunian hopes he can rebuild his career at Atlas.

“I’m looking forward to coming here to play. The past is the past,” he added (via Manchester Evening News).

“It’s different when we get on the field. [I’ll] just let football do the talking. The other negative side is in the past.”
