West Ham chairman David Sullivan is working ’20 hours a day’ in what has been an ‘incredibly stressful’ transfer window, says the club’s vice chairman Karen Brady.

The Hammers have had a busy summer, signing a total of five new players including the acquisitions of former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez and Stoke City’s Marko Arnautovic. The club continue to work hard in the transfer window as they look to complete the club record signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

Brady, who has been with the club since 2010, says such deals do not come easily, and chairman David Sullivan has been working day and night to make such moves possible.

“A lot of supporters don’t understand how stressful that whole period [the transfer window] is.” said Brady speaking on Sky Sports (via the Daily Mail).

“My chairman is working 20 hours a day getting very little sleep, taking phone calls, morning, noon and night. He’s doing all of that to try and improve things for West Ham. It’s an incredibly stressful situation.”

Brady also went on to state that Slaven Bilic does have the funds to further invest in his team before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month, hinting at the Hammers pursuit of Portugal international William Carvalho.

“We are ambitious and want to win things.

“We realise we needed extra players in the team. The manager has identified who they are, the money is there and the chairman is working very hard to bring them in.”
