West Ham United target Bruno Martins Indi has left pre-season with current club Porto with illness, sparking speculation over his future with the Portuguese club.

The defender was reportedly sick due to a virus and wasn’t able to play in the friendly match against Deportivo La Coruña, so was sent home instead.

The Netherlands international spent last season on-loan with Mark Hughe’s Stoke City, but has since returned to Porto. The Potters are keen on bringing the defender back to the club on a permanent deal but no such move has materialised with Stoke not thought to want to pay Porto’s €10 million valuation.

Crystal Palace were thought to have completed the signing of the 25-year-old earlier this summer, however the deal fell through. West Ham are also thought to be interested in the defender, with Slaven Bilic looking to add two more players to his squad before the season begins.

Martins Indi made 35 appearances for the Potters last season, catching the eye with his solid defensive performances, and found the net once in a 4-2 defeat to eventual Premier League Champions Chelsea on New Years Eve.
