West Ham United have confirmed that midfielder Robert Snodgrass has joined Championship side Aston Villa on a season-long deal.
Snodgrass joined West Ham only this January in a £10 million from Hull City, but failed to make an impact in East London in his half a season with the club.
The 29-year-old failed to find the net in any of his 15 appearances last season, and having failed to impress during pre-season, was subsequently left out of Slaven Bilic’s squad for the club’s two opening Premier League fixtures and told he was surplus to requirements at the London Stadium and ‘free to leave’ the club this summer.
Hull City manager Steve Bruce – who signed Snodgrass for Hull City back in 2014 – had been working to complete a deal for his former star over the past week and has now finally landed his man, adding him to a growing list of high profile signings that includes the likes of John Terry and Josh Onamah.
The club released a short statement, saying: ‘West Ham would like to wish Robert all the best for his loan spell.’
While Aston Villa fans are pleased to welcome a player they consider to be of Premier League quality to their ranks, the West Ham fans opinion may beg to differ, with many of them glad to see the back of the struggling midfielder …

Robert Snodgrass as our No7 is a much better fit than Bacuna. Welcome to VP. May you be brilliant #avfc

Thought Snodgrass was good at all his previous clubs, and I got quite excited when we signed him, sad it didn't work out. Good luck to him!
