Signal of Intent
The Hammers have in their defence already made a signal of intent this summer, if not many, by securing a number of high profile players such as Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez. However, signing Carvalho would be a move that surely eclipses either of those deals and prove West Ham really do mean business for the new season.
Long linked with a move to a number of Europe’s and the Premier League’s top clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, West Ham blowing the big boys out of the water to sign a player of Carvalho’s reputation and demand would be a significant play in the game of chess that is the summer transfer market.
