West Ham could on the verge of completing their sixth signing of an impressive summer after the club launched a sensational £27.1 bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.
Carvalho, a European Champion with Portugal, would become the club’s record signing should he make the switch to the London Stadium.
Representatives of both West Ham and the player are reportedly in Lisbon in an attempt to complete the shock move, with the Portuguese club now likely to agree a fee less than that of their £36.1 million valuation of the player due to his desire to leave the club for the Premier League.
With the midfielder only recently finding himself a new agent too – Pere Guardiola, brother of Manchester City boss Pep – The Hammers are confident a deal can be secured for the sought after 25-year-old.
