West Ham are bottom of the Premier League.

Not a statement most West Ham fans are used to hearing, or at least for a number of years anyway.

Yesterday’s dismal result at Old Trafford saw the season get off to a calamitous start to the new campaign. A brace from debutant Romelu Lukaku, followed by late goals from substitute Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba completed a 4-0 rout that West Ham players and fans will be keen to soon forget.

Relax, however. One game in, and nevertheless against a brilliant Manchester United side, there is no reason to panic.

It was not the start any would have hoped for, but with our fans admittedly having a tendency to self implode at the earliest moment, it’s important to put the loss into context and really think about the positives (maybe not from the game itself admittedly) going forward into the next few fixtures.
