Reece Oxford has got off to the perfect start in Germany.

The West Ham youngster – who is spending the season on loan with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach – scored his first goal for his new club yesterday, rising high from a corner to head home in style to make it 1-1 against Malaga.

The goal sparked a comeback from The Foals, with striker Raffael slotting home from the spot to give Gladbach the victory. Oxford picked up the Man of the Match award.

There were some West Ham fans who were disappointed to see the young Englishman shipped out on loan, feeling his talent should be given a chance to shine this upcoming season, especially given the poor form of some of the West Ham defence.

However, a move to Germany, and more specifically Borussia Monchengladbach, will without doubt prove – as it is already being shown – to be a move best for both player and club.
