United vs. West Ham
Fun fact: No Premier League team have won more opening day fixtures than Manchester United. Fun fact number two: no Premier League team have lost more opening day fixtures than West Ham. Fun fact number three: United have lost only 5 times to West Ham at Old Trafford in the past 30 years, and only once in the last decade.
Not to be a pessimist, but, as far as results go, this one might have been predictable. Add into the equation that the Hammers were facing off against the strongest Manchester United side in over five years with a host of big names out to make an impression, and the loss – while still not particularly encouraging – should not be ringing alarm bells.
