Neymar could be about the become the world’s most expensive ever football player ahead of his proposed £198 million move from Barcelona to PSG.

The Brazil star has allegedly already said his goodbyes to his Barca team-mates, and after missing training with the Catalan club over the past days, the move is expected to go through within the coming week. Only La Liga and financial fair play rules stand in Neymar’s way of making history.

Things could have been very different for the two time La Liga winner and former third place Ballon D’or runner up however, after the news that he was close to completing a move to Premier League side West Ham in 2010 resurfaced.

The Hammers put in a £12 million bid for the then Santos wonder kid in July of seven summers ago, but despite the players father keen on him making to move to England with West Ham, the bid was rejected by Santos. West Ham failed to return with a second offer closer to the £24 million valuation of Neymar, missing out on a man who would turn out to be on of the world’s best in the years that followed.

West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to reminisce over what could have been amidst the talk of Neymar’s huge money PSG move …
